What to Bring
A valid, government-issued photo ID is required for all notarizations. Here's what we accept — and what we don't.
Acceptable Forms of ID
- State-issued driver's license
- State-issued identification card
- U.S. military identification card
- State, County & Local Government IDs
- U.S. Passport issued by the U.S. Dept. of State
Unacceptable Forms of ID
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate
- Social Security Cards
- School & Library IDs
- Credit & Debit Cards
No ID?
A person with no ID is someone who does not have and cannot obtain an acceptable form of identification. This most often applies to elderly individuals, minor children, or persons with a disability. Pennsylvania law provides two alternative methods of identification in these situations:
- The sworn written statement of a credible witness who is personally known to the notary and who personally knows the signer.
- The sworn written statements of two credible witnesses whose identities are proven to the notary and who personally know the signer.
Please call us ahead of your appointment if this situation applies — we'll make sure the right arrangements are in place.
